Well I've been 'sitting with' all the feelings uprising from Water week, as advised by Effy Wild through the Elements of Art Journal course via Wild Precious Studio.
It's been an interesting week with lots of 'stuff' coming up from early childhood right to the present day. Thank goodness Effy has advised us to sit with it. Or I might be running a mile right now. Water has gone slowly but there are now a number of layers and I'm happy with where it's at right now and have plenty of ideas for finishing it up.

Air and not being 'here'
Well, I've been locked out of my blog.......ashamedly because I couldn't remember my password!!
Air week has gone fast.......here is the effort.....
The 3 Swords is straight out of my Tarot cards.....it reflects where I'm at right now.....under the Swords are the remnants of Myrrh incense sticks I tried to glue down only to have the glue not dry and remain sticky, so off they came but left some of the material behind so the page SMELLS great! Smell representing air quite well as does the Swords......The sky is dawn again to represent Air and the clouds overhead speak for themselves.........although there is some glitter under the clouds reflecting the morning sun rising.....so all is not doom and gloom.

Working on 'Earth'
This has taken me some time to get into but here is the beginning of my 'Cover page' for the Elements Art Journal.
I wanted a lot of texture in this element and I've done this with tissue paper bunched up and glued and covered with gesso. then I just passed a brush loaded with paint lightly over the high points and brushed into the flat spots.
I also wanted to include 'diamonds' and 'emeralds' to represent the wonder of jewels coming from the minerals of the earth, and some collage images of those things which speak 'Earth' to me.
The semi circle to the top left is where 'Spirit' will be in an egg shape and all the elements are in 4 corners of the complete spread.

Nasty bindings
I'm glad I've had a chance to practice on my Elements Art Journal with a note book I already had covered in scrapbooking papers.
It's a spiral bound book and now I know that isn't suitable for what I want for my Art Journals.
As you can see from the picture I've covered the binding with masking tape and I'll do something about that later on, also the covering of scrapbooking paper isn't what I want to use for Elements so I've just added a leaf from the garden which sort of resembles the pictures of rose leaves, and I've made a little 'river' of water ending in a jewel 'pool'.
I'll probably darken the whole thing over time as the 'pink' background doesn't speak Elements to me!

Making a 'real' start
After looking at a couple of videos from week 2 lessons from Wild Precious Studio Elements Art Journal I've made a start.....but only on my cover page! Earth has at last begun to speak to me! and Water is saying some things too!
I'm learning a lot about the elements which will be of enormous benefit in many areas of my continuing studies.

Giving credit where credit's due
Today my mission is to link Wild Precious Studio Elements Art Journaling to what I've been blogging about......and it seems to have worked!
Now my mission is to link other bloggers pages here, if that is what they would like.

Day One
The class has been running for a week today but due to various gremlins in my world I've been unable to see most of the videos from the Orientation Class.
Hoping to have this sorted by next week, then there will be a rush to catch up. This shouldn't be too problematic as I have most of my idea firmly planted in my imagination.
This is a new approach for me, working with paper, colour washes, pencils, more paper, inks etc., and I'm really looking forward to being able to manipulate the materials to achieve what I want. It will be very different from working with lead and glass which is the only creative (apart from cooking) thing I've been doing for years and then not for the past 5 or so years at all!
So, creativity, here I come.....be kind.
